Transylvania Habitat is so grateful for your support in lifting up our community during our hurricane recovery.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Transylvania Habitat for Humanity needs your financial support to fund the critical repairs necessary to get our community members back into their homes where they may live safely. All Hurricane Helene Relief funds will be used to make critical home repairs for victims of the hurricane in Transylvania County.

Each local Habitat is responsible for raising their own funds and running their own housing program. Real Estate

Finding land upon which to build is one of Transylvania Habitat for Humanity’s biggest challenges. A gift of real estate enables you to make a bigger charitable difference than you may think possible. It also helps you to avoid estate taxes and minimizes or eliminates any burden placed on your heirs. Gifts of real estate range from undeveloped lots, personal residences, vacation homes, rental properties, to farmland and commercially developed land. You may choose to donate real estate outright and receive an immediate tax credit, or to retain the property for use during your lifetime and make it a ‘planned gift’ in the form of a remainder interest. Make a Tax-Free Transfer From Your IRA

Donors age 70½ and older can give tax-free from their IRA through a procedure called a qualified charitable distribution. The gift counts as the required minimum distribution but isn’t included in adjusted gross income. The donation must be transferred directly from your IRA to Transylvania Habitat for Humanity. Ask your IRA administrator about the procedure.

In-Kind Giving

Donations of new building materials can be made to Habitat’s building program. Donations can also be made to in the form of professional services required on construction sites, such as masonry, HVAC installation, electrical wiring, plumbing, roofing and more. In-Kind donations can also be made in the form of non-construction services offered by local donors such as lawyers, accountants, graphic designers, interior designers and financial counselors.
