Transylvania Habitat for Humanity is committed to ensuring that our local veterans have a safe home in which to live, and the resources they need to build camaraderie amongst themselves and the community as a whole. We achieve this through several programs:
The Critical Home Repair Program
We are seeking local military veterans who are in need of any housing conditions which pose a threat to their life or safety. This also includes providing accessibility modifications necessary to prevent displacement of homeowners.
Qualifications:
- The veteran must be the homeowner and living in the home (Transylvania County) in need of repair.
- The veteran must be up to date on all property taxes and mortgage payments.
- The veteran must agree not to sell the home within 3 years. For example:
– Maximum income for a household of one is $43,100
– Household of two is $49,250
– Household of three is $55,400
Homeowners can pick up an application at the Transylvania Habitat Office or ReStore, or download an application from our website.

Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project
The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project is a nationwide effort to show gratitude for and honor the veterans who have served our country and the families that support them in turn. Since the inception of the program in 2016, over 500 military members have received new roofs, and a safer environment in which to live. Transylvania Habitat will work closely with local veterans to initiate and manage all requests to receive roof replacements.

Affordable Homeownership for All Veterans
We believe that every single veteran that has served our country deserves to be welcomed home with dignity, honor, and respect. Our affiliate is looking to partner with military-connected families, veterans, and their caretakers to build safe, stable and affordable homes for this amazing group of community members.
