Are you in need of critical home repairs?
Transylvania Habitat for Humanity has launched a Critical Home Repair Program for individuals and families who may be struggling to maintain their homes in the Transylvania County community.
Our goal is to: 1) Alleviate any housing conditions which pose an imminent threat to the life or safety of low-income homeowners as well as those with special needs, and 2) to provide accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent displacement of homeowners with special needs, such as the elderly, veterans, single parent households, and persons with disabilities.
Types of Critical Projects
- Roof replacement & repair
- Floor & other interior repairs
- Bathroom modifications
- HVAC and hot water heaters
- Modifications for special accessibility
Please note: Assistance is based on urgency of need, eligibility and special needs factors regardless of race, creed, sex, color, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation.
Requirements for Consideration
- You must be the homeowner living in the home needing repairs.
- You must have owned your home for at least 24 months.
- You must be current on your taxes, property insurance, and mortgage payments.
- You must have a need that threatens the safety of occupants or require modifications that prevent displacement of seniors, the disabled, or very low-income occupants.
- Household income must be below 80% of the HUD Area Median Income based on household size. Seniors aged 62 and older, disabled , and single-parent families may qualify for certain programs without income requirements.
